Review - Stop Them Dead by Peter James

A ruthless crime. A race against time.

When a young farmer confronts intruders in the middle of the night he has no idea that just minutes later he will be left dying in a pool of blood. What’s more chilling is what the perpetrators were willing to kill for.

At the scene of the crime, Detective Superintendent Roy Grace soon realises this is no isolated robbery gone wrong but the tip of the iceberg of a nationwide crime wave, in which ruthless organised gangs are making more money from the illegal trade in dogs than drugs. A trade which pits him against some ruthless people who will kill anyone who gets in their way, because where there is greed, there is murder.

I just don't know how Peter James does it!!!

Book number 19 in the Roy Grace series and it was still as brilliant as the first! I have read all of the previous books but don't feel that you have to - yes there are things that are referred to in the book that have happened in previous books but he always gives you enough info to understand what's happened without going all through the full story. I can however say that if you read this as your first book you will 100% want to go back and read all of the previous ones!!

Back to this one - it is once again brilliantly written and I couldn't put it down, I needed to see how it ended. The storyline was really relevant to what had been happening during the covid 19 pandemic regarding puppy theft and there was some extra elements that were brilliantly added!

Fantastic read and I recommend to everyone.

My last 5 reads....

Heres a short summary of my last 5 reads......

Who She Was by Tony Parsons

I loved this storyline, I loved how it was all written from Tom's viewpoint with others views scripted in. I loved the twists and turns and literally gasped out loud towards the end. Brilliantly written and easy to read.

The Cherrywood Murders by Penny Blackwell

Please tell me that there will be more of these books! I absolutely loved this book and storyline, it was easy to read with some humour and unexpected twists and turns along the way. Brilliantly written.

Fear the Silence by Robert Brenda

I loved this book. I couldn't believe how quickly I read it, the chapters are short but so easy to just keep on reading. I liked how the storyline developed and just had to keep reading to find out what actually happened and who was behind it all.
Beach Rivals by Georgie Tilley

This was a nice easy read, and can I just say that it would also be my ideal job!! I found that I quickly fell in love with the sad old book store the same as our main character and couldn't read it quickly enough to see if her and Jack managed to turn it around. A really nice summer read or just a read to get you in that summer mood!

A Death At The Party by Amy Stuart

I really enjoyed this book, I loved how the story unfolded and needed to see exactly what had happened. I liked the fact that we were finding out about the present day storyline s well as the one from 30 years ago. I found it quick to read and well written.

Long time - no posts!!

 Wow!

I didn't realise how long it had been since I last posted on here! I guess a global pandemic and life just got in the way.

I have still been reading like always - some things never change!

I just don't manage to read as much as I'd like (If there is a job out there that I can just get paid to read all day please let me know - I'm up for that!) I'm on 33 books for the year so far - good old Goodreads for helping me track what I have read and what I haven't!

I have some great books that I want to write about so will make more of an effort to do so and share some of these amazing reads with you.
